Yes. Mister. Running QT 10.2 on OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I have set the codec to A52 / AC3 which is supported when playing AC3 audio in QT. The instruction to put one component in the Library / Component, and the other – in the Library / Quicktime. The system folder at this point also contains the Library / Component and Library / Quicktime folders. What to do with QT components? Are you browsing four folders? I put items in all four folders and Quicktime hasn’t played folders with AVI ringtones with DOLBY 5.1 sound yet. The component names are A52Codec.component, which belongs to the component file, and AC3MovieImport.component, which belongs to the Quicktime folder. I can play these AVI files using VLC, but if I want to make a DVD, I need sound to do the job in QT.

How to Play AVI Movies with DivX Codec on Quicktime Mac in OS X
(Works for Tiger with later versions of OS X)
Quicktime on Mac OS X cannot play video or video files saved in the .avi format and encoded in the DivX format. Even if buyers cannot get AVI music sound on their Mac, the following AVI audio codec will solve this problem for you.
Here’s what you need to get Quicktime to play .avi video files on Mac OS X.

Download these two disc photo files (.dmg) and double-click each one to seeAdd these files (make children visible and visible through Finder on another device (top left next to Finder) on your Mac.

If QuickTime users want to recognize and use the Dolby AC3 audio recording of the conversation, also copy the AC3MovieImport component to the / Library / QuickTime folder. It won’t hurt, and you will probably need it later.
If you’ve definitely used QuickTime, quit QuickTime (Command + Q), don’t close the situation simply because QuickTime is still running on the treadmill in the background. You must completely exit and restart QuickTime for QuickTime to place the codecs, so this step is definitely necessary.
