Chris: After upgrading to Outlook 2007, I get a data advertisement error every time I open Outlook. The exact error message I see is: The data file was successfully closed the last time and was found due to problems. Restarting the scan may decrease performance. After a few minutes, I get the error “Data file validation completed.” “suspects that Outlook may be used to check for errors, and because it cannot find them, it does not fix them.
But if there is no major problem, why does Outlook try to keep checking in the first place?

Tara, severalMany others have the same problem that you explain. Personally, I also dealt with this problem. If Outlook is constantly looking for detailed file errors, it is because Outlook is highlighting the problem. However, to fix the errors, you must also declare the data, specifically the Outlook PST file. To do this, follow all of the following steps:
- In Outlook 2007, click Recipe Tools and select Options.
- In the User Options dialog box, click the E-mail Setup tab, and then click the Data Files button.
- All your custom Outlook data files are listed in the Account Settings window. This is where you really need to write down the full path to each data file. On my system, My Personal Outlook and My Repository are folders that are stored in the C: Documents and Settings Chris Wolf Local Settings Application Data Microsoft Outlook directory.
- With this amazing information, close the Account Settings dialog box, and then close the Outlook Settings window.
Now that you know where your Outlook comprehension files are located, you should use Use the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Inbox Repair Tool-SCANPST.exe to check them and then fix them. By default, SCANPST.exe should be located in the Office 12 subfolder of the Microsoft Office installation folder. On my system, SCANPST.exe is located in the D: Program Files Microsoft Office Office 12. To check and repair someone’s Outlook data files, do most of the following:
- Outlook 2007 shuts down first.
- Using Windows Explorer, locate SCANPST.exe, then double-click it.
- When Outlook 2007 opens the Inbox Repair Tool, click Browse and navigate to Outlook where the data file you often found earlier is located. Please note that everyone should review each of the submissions. I start with an archive.pst file on my system. To view the file, select it again in the Select File to Download dialog box. ation ”and click“ Open ”.
- Now click “Start” to go to the recovery process. If errors occur, you will see the window shown in Fig. 1.
Install. SCANPST detects these faulty PST files and prepares to fix these faulty PST files. - Make sure the “Save scanned file before restoring” checkbox is still checked, then click “Restore”.
- When your family members see the Restore Build pop-up window, click OK.
- Repeat steps 2-6 to scan the same file that was just checked and fixed by SCANPST.exe. Keep running rrn opposition to check the same file until errors are found.
- Repeat steps 2-7 for any additional PST electronic files located in the Outlook folder.
After all your Outlook PST files have been recovered successfully, you may be able to open Outlook and more.Do not see the error message that killed you.
