In the past few weeks, some drives have had a drive mapping error in Windows XP Professional. This issue occurs due to a number of factors. Let’s take a look at them now.

If you have regular access to network shares, you may want to consider another recognized method of access, such as mapping shares. This has several advantages. First, a series of drives and folders will open in the My Computer window. Accessing them can be faster than navigating to the My Network Places window. Second, if everyone chooses “File” – “Open” in one of your applications, you can navigate directly to a specific folder with answers, instead of double-clicking deeper and deeper on the icons in the dialog box.
