W32 / MyDoom-O creates a file named services.exe associated with the Windows or Temp folder and runs the file. Services.exe is a backdoor component.
How fast did MyDoom spread?
W32 / MyDoom-O searches your hard disk for email addresses. The worm searches for programs with the extensions PL *, PH *, TX *, HT *, ASP, TBB, SHT *, WAB, ADB, and DBX, as well as the Windows Resolve book. The worm is also likely to use an Internet search engine to find additional email addresses. The earthworms submit a query to a search engine using the players’ email domains found on the hard drive, and then examine the results of the questions for additional addresses.
