• Some ACM / VFW codecs such as x264VFW and La garith. This type of associated codec is used by video editing / encoding applications to work with AVI files. For example VirtualDub…
  These codecs are not used or really unnecessary for video playback. Important
  Note. The K-Lite Codec Pack does not optimize the import capabilities of professional computer publishers such as Vegas Movie Studio or Adobe Premiere. These applications often only support the import of small linked file formats and do not support the use of codecs at all, which are undoubtedly included in the codec pack (DirectShow / VFW). Modern publishers often only use their own internal codecs and only support external codecs of our Media Foundation type.

And some other optional DirectShow audio / video filters:

• ffdshow processor
  Provides filters to control commonly decoded audio and video.
• ffdshow audio / video decoder, alternative choice for LAV audio / video decoders.
• AC3Filter, alternative as with LAV audio decoder.

Important Note: The above extreme filters are not used by default. We also do not consider it advisable to use these legacy filters. They are only available for a small group of lpeople who have a good reason to use them. We strongly recommend that you use the wrong decoders from the packaging. It will get better.

Important Note: All of Mega’s advanced features are only useful for a small group of people. It does not allow playing with additional types of audio or video. If you are only interested in reading, the full version is enough for you.
