How to fix the error when unpacking from archive by renaming the / bin / tar cpio file?

You may receive an error that says the archive was unable to extract the archive when renaming the / bin / tar file. There are several ways to fix this problem, so we’ll get to that soon.

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Problem

Install using yum / rpm fails while updating packages.

Resolution

1. Make sure the process contains a portion of the os-release file.

  # ps -aux | sharing grep

2. Stop the process that still contains the os-release file. If the app contains data, check to see if the app is stalling. Ask a group of people to stop this. If necessary, check if the method can be killed with the help of a part of the development team.

  # kill - search for

Note. – Check Vulnerableapplication to complete the process.

3. Update the redhat-release-server package.

  # rpm -Uvh / path / to /

Reason

The Docker application contained the os-release file.

Solution

RPM contains cpio as archive format. Is this the reason we are seeing a special cpio error here? The error “cpio: view failed” means that the package that is trying to unpack one package is probably damaged or incomplete.

If you encounter an error, make sure the experts claim that the package was downloaded from a trusted source and is still complete m by checking the MD5 checksum of the downloaded copy and your original. (Command # md5sum)

Check the md5sum size of the RPM copy on your system.

If there is a difference in the checksum, it is highly recommended that you re-download from a trusted source. If the server supports direct Internet access or proxy browsing, no doubt upload the package track directly to the server using the wget command.
