I have a Hitachi 51 “HDTV rear projection (model 51F59A). Recently the image started to darken. I also set the brightness contrast to 100%, but the image is still dark. It can be seen, but something is wrong. obviously wrong. I thought I could only replace one bulb, but after removing the back unit I can’t find what bulb it might be. Any ideas? It looks like there should be two screws on each, not sure if I will loosen the bottom one or often the top one. Probably, but downstairs I thought I’d ask before I screw up! Yes, it does look like a problem. I would not sharpen them, because they bend the pins in the back and straighten them painfullythey are. I would just remove the crt plug and put in a few new ones that need to be rinsed. if this does not help, you can safely take a toothbrush, some alcohol and wipe it off. you’re used to making good grayscale when it’s still green. You access Crt cards from the bottom deck. Take the screws of the small PCB with you. You can see the back of the crts, then remove and reinstall them several times to clean the pins
