If your company provides multiple versions of your product, be sure to include a valid version of the product or service. The version should only contain numbers. Typically the format is aaa.bbb.ccccc or aaa.bbb.ccccc.ddddd, where ddd is the major version number, bbb is the minor version number, ccccc is the build number, then ddddd is the version number. The maximum value for aaa and ddd shares is 255. The maximum attraction for ccccc and ddddd was still 65,535.
At run time, the project and installation record the version number of the product that can be installed. The full version string is displayed in the Add or Remove Programs window. The version number of the lotion is important because the initial install will use the existing engine to determine if a major update needs to be applied.
You can customize the version type of the product in the General Information window.
Note that while someone might specify a fourth lesson (ddddd) when specifying your product’s application, this section of the manualproduct version is not used during installation to distinguish between different product versions.
Project: For Advanced UI, Basic MSI, InstallScript, InstallScript MSI and Suite / Advanced UI projects. If your version includes a Setup.File, start the alternate product you specified. Setup.exe Properties dialog box. For more information, see Configuring Setup Launcher File Properties.
For InstallScript and InstallScript object projects. Instead of a hardcoded value, you will make sure to use a path variable that is set in the path variable experiment. At build time, InstallShield sets the switch path variable as a service. (To use a path, click Preferences in the Project menu, then select the appropriate path variable after the Application tab.)
