    samba error 51

Applies to: Windows 10 – all editions, Windows Server next R2
Original number in the knowledge base: 259878

    Symptoms

    samba error 51

When you try to access shared resources from a computer running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, you may receive the following error message:

    • samba error 51

      Message 1

System error 53 has occurred. The network guide was not found.

    • Message 2

System error 51 has occurred. The remote computer is clearly unavailable.

If you try to view the properties of a late 90s Windows client on a domain controller running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, you receive the following Server Manager error:

The remote computer is definitely available. net use * server share
A system error occurred while evaluating 53. The community path was not found. Run, run server share

For example, when using the net view or net Benefit command, it can be a nightmare.

    Reason

This issue can occur if the file and printer for the Microsoft Network Share are disabled or not actually installed.

    Resolution

To resolve this issue, make sure the file is positive and that the printer is shared with Microsoft networks. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Log on to the mobile computer with administrator credentials.
    2. Double click My Computer. Double-click “Computer”, “Control Panel”, then “Network and Dial-up”.
    3. Double-click all the connections you want to change, then click Properties.
    4. In the general monthly invoice, the activated components will be received through this login area; look for file and printer sharing for Microsoft networks. If it is not listed, connect it by clicking the Install alternative and then double-clicking Service.
    5. Make sure the File checkbox is selected and the Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks checkbox is selected. This parameter makes the resources used are available on the network.

    Additional Information

File, including Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, is equivalent to Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server service. If someone doesn’t want to share websites over a connection, turn off this process in the attachment’s properties. 2000 requires Windows Active Directory, which in turn requires file and printer sharing for Microsoft networks on game domain controllers to perform basic tasks such as sending a SYSVOL share through the file replication service.
