If you have Winamp to provide surround sound on your system, this guide may help you solve the problem. g.Winamp Fraunhofer IIS MP3 Surround plug-in is built with three decoding modes: MP3 Surround, can usually be used for 5.1 output, which a surround speaker system can do; Ensonido which brings surround sound to your headphones and MP3 stereo sound and also plays single stereo sound. Selecting the Ensonido Approach allows you to choose between 4 listening modes.

Checkbox: “Hardware acceleration” in DirectSound output configuration,
and make sure your secure card / chip is selected as the output device.

Note. All changes will not take effect until you restart playback.
In some cases a good restart of Winamp is required.

If that doesn’t work, make sure you have the latest version of DirectX installed.

Winamp 5.25 / 5.3 and up

For true multichannel files (for example, aac / wav / ac3 / ogg / wma files that are protected by 5.1ch surround sound as opposed to standard 2ch MP3 files), you want the “ Allow surround sound. ” “> Prefs> Playback” to play the music in its original 5.1-channel format (note: some options are checked by default).

Windows Vista

Apart from the instructions above, Vista users should also access:
Control Panel> Sound> Playback tab> Speakers> Customize:
Choose from: 5.1 / 7.1 Surround.
Then:
Control panelSound Enhancements >> Playback tab> Speakers> Properties> Enhancements tab

For Creative SB Live & Sound Audigy cards, try CMSS in the control panel and EAX, do not forget to move the slider forward / backward (for example, from 100% to 0%).

You must activate CMSS if you think you have activated the “Allow 24 bits” option in: Winamp> Prefs> Reading.

Please note that some onboard audio chips, possibly older sound cards, do not support a large number of speaker outputs in 24-bit mode. It may also be necessary to disable “Allow 24 bits” in Winamp settings.
