These discs are inexpensive bootable discs for use with Microsoft Windows CDs. Not all Windows 9x/ME CDs are bootable, not all CDs come with boot floppies, and DOS probably doesn’t recognize the CD drive and loaded driver. OEMs were expected to provide compatible CDs consisting of bootable media shipped with their own systems. However, in the late 1990s, vendors mostly standardized the IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM hardware and used the OEM Adaptation Kit (OAK) statements. If your CD drive supports more than just IDE (eg MKE or Panasonic), you will need to add your own driver. Note. You can use the Windows 98 disc with Windows 95 to make things easier. If you have blank OEM boot disks with proprietary drivers, please submit them.
